The Good Confession

I charge you before God, He making all things alive, and Christ Jesus, He witnessing the good confession to Pontius Pilate…
1 Timothy 6:13 (LITV)

With these words Paul exposes the folly of our trust in the understanding of the mere creeds and so-called “confessions” by which we have so often defined our faith. For what theological oration did Christ Jesus give before Pilate? Yet it says, “He witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate.” A witness is one who has lived that of which they speak; and the life of which they speak is their confession. Christ witnessed the good confession to Pilate; Christ’s confession was the very Life of God by which He was obedient to His Father in all things.

The good confession of which He witnssed was that He was the Son of God in the flesh. Ours is likewise to be that that same Life of the Son of God is being manifested in the life of our own flesh. Just as God and man were fully present in Christ before Pilate, so also our witness to Him shall be no witness at all until the substance of our real lives is being transfigured by the substance of God’s real Life working in us through the obedience of faith.

The witness which John makes of the apostles’ confession is, “That which we have seen and heard, declare we unto you…” In God’s appointed order, there is no discrepancy, though there be a distinction, between His Word and Christ Himself. Christ is the Word of God. If then we be Christ’s, and His word dwells in us, how can we not be constrained by that Word? “Why do you call Me “Lord, Lord,” and not do the things I say?” We have taken the distinction between command and Commander as justification for the glaring discrepancy between them in our own lives. But God does not abide such hypocrisy.

The incarnation of Christ Jesus is in itself the ultimate rebuke for our rending of the Word spoken from the Word lived. For in Him the Word was born a man, true Divinity elevating true humanity in Christ to its proper place in absolute harmony with God; so that those likewise born again of His Spirit from above might become partakers in the same resurrection life TODAY.

For how does John describe those who abide not in that Life?

By this we know the Spirit of God: every spirit which confesses that Jesus Christ IS come in the flesh is from God. And every spirit which does not confess that Jesus Christ IS come in the flesh is not from God; this is the antichrist which you heard is coming, and now is already in the world.
1 John 4:2-3

Notice how John says that it is a spirit which either confesses or denies the good confession. For he who confesses is he in whom righteousness is seen in the flesh, and he is from God; but he who denies is he in whom righteousness is not found in the flesh, and that one is not from God. In the case of the first spirit, it witnesses truly of that which it has seen and heard: which is the Word of Life; and in them the Life is manifest. But in the case of the second spirit, they bear witness of no such Life in the flesh; and their words are empty, because the Life, which is the good confession, is not manifest in them. Such is the spirit of antichrist: it is contrary to His Life working in us, though we speak His Name.

And again, regarding this second spirit which confesses not: it could be a demon, or it could be the spirit of a man, and there would be no difference. For the true confession that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is a life being evidently lived in the flesh “by the faith OF the Son of God.” (Gal 2:20). Does the faith of Jesus Christ Himself ever fail? That is the faith by which we are to be living. Religion stops at faith in Christ; but the righteousness of God is “through the faith OF Jesus Christ toward all and upon all those believing…” (Rom 3:22)

John, as he does throughout his first letter, is saying that those who have the Life of Christ ought to walk even as Christ walked: who, though being God, became a man, so that we, being men, might become “the righteousness of God in Him.”

Such is the good confession. To truly confess His name is to have His Life at work even in our life in the flesh, just as He was always about His Father in His own flesh.

If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater; because this is the witness of God which He has witnessed about His Son:
The one believing in the Son of God has the witness in himself.
The one not believing God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed in the witness which God has witnessed concerning His Son.
And this is the witness: that God gave us everlasting life, and this life is in His Son.

Reflections Upon Logos

First, a short list of basic meanings for Logos (Gk. λόγος):

a saying, speaking, speech, mode of speaking, eloquence, discourse; conversation, talk; word, expression; assertion; principle, maxim; proverb; oracle; promise; order, command; proposal; condition, agreement; stipulation, decision; pretext; thought, reason, reckoning, computation, reflection, deliberation, account; cause, end; argument, demonstration; meaning, value; proportion; Christ.


Man’s tendency to speculate that there was chaos in the beginning is simply his philisophical attempt to legitimize the presence of sin and darkness within his own soul. For he knows where he came from, and where he ought to be going; but he loves the darknes instead of the light, because his deeds are evil.

And we have been given this great revelation:

In the beginning was Logos:
with God was Logos,
and Logos was God.

Logos cannot proceed from chaos; chaos is by very definition of its nature the deviation from Logos. Logos cannot but only be first and primary.

For there to even be chaos, there must already subsist either existence and/or being distinct from God which is capable of rejecting Logos, since God Himself is not a God of confusion. The Spirit of Christ declares that in the beginning only Logos was, and Logos was God. Such a decription leaves no room for any existence or being outside of Him “before” creation.

Neither, then, in the beginning, could there have yet been chaos; since there only was God, who is Logos, within whom no deviation can be. And where there is found chaos and disorder, the true beginning has to have come before it, and then a transgression. For chaos is the transgression of Logos.

As the scripture says:

In the beginning, God
…and God created…

By this we see clearly that only God, and that which God creates, and the doings of either, can be spoken of; for elsewise nothing is. It is therefore somewhat misleading when we declare that God created ex-nihilo (“out of nothing”); since nothing is not existent, and nothing is not being. Existence derives from preexistence; being derives from being. Does not nature itself teach us this? For truly God is said to have created – as we might axiomize in Greek – ektós-theos (“out of God”); since that which is cannot proceed from that which is not.

All things came into being through Him, and without Him not even one thing came into being that has come into being. (LITV)

“Without Him” means apart from, beside, and includes the meaning of outside of. That which He created, He did not create from outside of Himself; but rather from within Himself. For as it states clearly, apart from Himself there became neither existence nor being. Hence, all things came into being “through” Him, for He is the matrix of all possible existence and of all possible being. Therefore, the nature of the created order, even with disorder now present, unmistakably illustrates His eternal truth because it bears the same mystery of He who made it.

And He is before all things, and all things consist in Him.
Collosians 1:17 (LITV)

Creation is derivitive of God Himself. The propensity to avoid this truth reveals the very separation of the creature from God which occured at the fall. Now, this is not a denial of “the many” (the distinction of creation from God) as much as is it neither a denial of “the One” (the consistence of creation through God). For sin is manifested in both denials; because sin itself is the division of the many from the One (the creation from the Creator).

To deny the One for the many, or to deny the many for the One, is to embrace the very deviation which divided the two. That is the exact definition of heresy. We might clumsily label these two denials of God’s order “pantheism” and “radical individualism;” but they are both manifestations of the same separation of the creature from the Creator: and they both therefore magnify the creature at the expense of the Creator. One is not better than the other.

Upon this separation, Logos is exchanged for the constantly disordering motion of chaos; yet only for the creature. For although God created man through Logos; He tasked them to willingly remain in Logos, which they have not. Disorder cannot touch God because He is Logos; He is immovable: so that whatever deviates from His Way removes itself from Him, and He Himself is not changed.

The disorder in ourselves is not to be embraced, nor even tolerated, but rather expelled. It is not natural to God; and we know it. Man knows where he came from, and where he should be going.

Logos preexisted chaos, True Life preexisted death; and death will again be swallowed up in victory for all who live through and in Him – He who both preceded and succeeded death. He is the beginning and the end.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not overtake it.

After all, how could it?

Awake, O sleeper, arise from death; and Christ will give you light.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His Logos is not in us.

Beware How You Hasten The Day

For, brothers, you became imitators of the churches of God being in Judea in Christ Jesus, because you also suffered these things by your own fellow countrymen, as they also by the Jews, who both killed the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, also driving us out, and not pleasing God, and being contrary to all men, hindering us from speaking to the nations in order that they be saved, to fill up their sins always. But the wrath has come on them to the uttermost.
1 Thessalonians 2:14-16

The term “Judeo-Christian,” as it has come to be used, is beyond oxymoronic: it is truly an absurdism. When Judaism and Christianity are properly defined, there is no such actual worldview. The appearing of the Messiah forever determined the new downward trajectory of the former and brought forth the latter as its true fulfillment; and never the twain shall meet. “Judeo-Christian” is simply the (historically new) rhetorical cloak of the zionist-imperialists to excuse their ongoing subversion of many nations; it is a trigger-word coined to demonize all who would dare to oppose the modern-day Judaizers, who have snuck their leaven and mammon into the church for fear of the gospel.

And they have done this most effectively in the west by turning the prophetic scriptures into worldly apocalyptic fantasies, which, because they reject the life-giving Spirit of Christ, require a return to the form of the Law that Christ has already fulfilled, as well as the establishment of an earthly kingdom with earthly Jerusalem (which God destroyed) at its head. Jesus opposed these very men in His own day, saying, “If you were children of Abraham, you would do the works of Abraham. But now you seek to kill Me, a man who has spoken the truth to you, which I heard alongside of God. Abraham did not do this.” (Jn 8:39-40)

You cannot force the Eschaton. And even if you could, the only biblically prescribed method of “hastening the day of the Lord” is to be a pure and spotless bride for Christ. Whoring around with worldly powers and playing into Jewish fables about the end times will not accomplish that. It may appear to succeed for certain moments, at least for as long as the narrative can be sustained; but it will ultimately fail to achieve such an end. And when the Lord sweeps His true children into a true revival of His heavenly kingdom in their hearts, you will have missed the Spirit. The earthly temple was left with not one stone left standing upon another (Lk 19:44); the heavenly Jerusalem awaits. Take no heed to the rabbis of Sodom and Egypt, where our Lord was crucified.

I have come in the name of My Father, and you do not receive Me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive that one.
How are you able to believe, you who receive glory from one another, and the glory which is from the only God you do not seek?
Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father; there is one accusing you, Moses, in whom you have hoped.
For if you were believing Moses, you would then believe Me; for that one wrote concerning Me. But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe My words?

Earthly Empires are for Spiritual Whores

I have observed within the ranks of politically aware Christians a longing for the return of the “noble pagan” – the sort of principled men which at times have graced the pages of history in their honorable deeds and not been adversarial toward God’s children.

But it is the church’s own fault that these kinds of men have all but vanished, and she does not see how she is the source of this problem. For when she fornicates with the secular power, she loses favor with both God and men. She weakens herself morally, and she sows the seeds of resentment among the heathen, who already do not trust her. It would be enough to be hated simply because of the indwelling Christ, which is her calling. But instead, by whoring around in matters that are not her calling, she actually helps lay the groundwork for the most bloody empires to rise.

Corruption only works one way: toward greater corruption. The mixture of the holy and the profane is by definition corrupt, and can only ever dillute further. New holiness must arise outside of that cauldron and remain there if God is to reward it. The mixture of divine reality with earthly means always works toward the summoning of the beast, no matter what the initial intention. When evil is left to eat itself and holiness pursued instead, darkness ebbs and flows, yet is by-and-large kept at bay. But when good and evil (mixture) is pursued, nothing is left sacred, and all things fall inevitably into deep darkness.

New light shines in the hearts of those who leave this all behind, the eyes of whom are opened to the heavenly thing; but those who will not abandon their fornication with the world are judged as its citizens.

There is only one nation under God; and she bears not her own name, nor can her true form be perceived by carnal eyes.

Bloodshed & Fire

History indeed repeats itself; but with every repetition, it gets louder to the hearing ear, and clearer to the seeing eye.

Every tactic which man collectively employs (and re-employs) to “save” himself eventually serves only to reveal his fallenness. We are at the verge of the ugliest part of the cycle repeating itself again; and this time, the methods of the evil rulers and purveyors of wickedness have been more perfected than ever. The final chapter of history will be the culmination of all that has been building up in the darkness for millennia.

The pursuit of ultimate wealth and power has lead the whole world into bottomless debt and utter enslavement to mammon. Enforced degeneracy is currently eating its unnumerable subjects alive by the dictates of its very nature. And in modernity, the mass ethnic-melting-pot societies, falsely imposed as the grand utopian solution to mankind’s woes, will invariably lead to mass-ethnic-cleansing, as those nations with any sense of themselves left will thereby attempt to curb the inescapable consequences of all the decadence – and this was the plan all along. The Devil weakens the nations by the subversion of true authority, but then feigns innocence upon the bloody result. For amidst the ensuing chaos, he can then define with one accusation the spirit of the age, uniting the mind of the world under a single mantra: that Christ and His true flock are to blame.

You can try to intervene by playing their “game” against them, and so be drawn in to partake in the plagues of Babylon; or you can pursue the indestructable Life which is hidden with Christ in God, and He will be enough, and His kingdom will have one more inheritor.

You can compromise and become baptized in the world’s filth, and aquire a taste for the blood of the martyrs; or you can become baptized in the Holy Spirit and drink the Water of Life, and suffer for Christ’s Name.

The Lord has given us Himself to be discovered, known, and obeyed; yet the many among us keep holding on to a wicked world that hates Christ, a world that will end in bloodshed and fire.

THE CITY OF GOD IS OUR CALLING
“My kingdom is not of this world.” – Jn 18:36



“Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.”
Matthew 6:10

This prayer does not request mixture, it rather acknowledges contrast. What great perversion is wrought by men concerning these words of the Lord! For they postulate that the church itself must impose heaven’s method of governance upon the earthly authorities, and establish the heavenly kingdom by the means of earthly rulership. Now they would not all explicitly describe it in this way, but this truly is what they seek to do and how they operate. They contradict the Lord’s silence when He was offered all the kingdoms of the earth by Satan; forgetting that even after He was risen, His all-encompassing authority was for the church to “preach repentance and remission of sins in His name among all nations,” (Lk 24:47), not to obtain cultural sympathy. For example, the persecuted apostles found no need to argue for any form of “free speech;” they simply spoke, because they were free men (Acts 5). Cultural influence is only acceptable as a coincidental product of discipleship; whereas a “discipleship” born of cultural or political influence is inauthentic and blasphemous in God’s sight.

The scepter shall not depart from Judah, nor the lawmaker from between his feet, until Shiloh come, and the obedience of the peoples to HIM.
Genesis 49:10 (LITV)

Shiloh has come. When Shiloh (Heb. “He whose it is”) came, the theocracy of earthly Israel ended, and the theocracy of Christ reigning within the hearts of men by the direct infilling of the Holy Spirit began. God’s answer to the Jews’ expectation is and always will be Pentecost, not dominion. If you do not partake in the Holy Ghost in this age, you will not partake in the kingdom in the age to come. (I say to partake in, not merely to partake of, which is different.) As long as you are without the first coming of Christ, you will most assuredly miss the second. You cannot reject the one and be able to recieve the other. This is the explicit teaching of the apostles…

“Let all the house of Israel therefore know for certain that God has made Him both Lord and Christ, this Jesus whom you crucified.” Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to Himself.” And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”
Acts 2:36-40 (ESV)

“Save yourselves from this crooked generation.” – The kingdom comes when God sees that the church is pure, unspotted by, and unmixed with the ways of this present world – and this can only begin in each individual “sanctifying the Lord God in their hearts” (1Pet 3:15). God’s will being done on earth does not mean that we demand the earthly governances to operate by our best conception of the heavenly standard: it rather means that HIS CHURCH is pure, and that as such, she worthily commands all men everywhere to repent, by which call He gathers His elect from the four winds of the earth. For truly the phrase “as it is in heaven” speaks of the perfect degree to which His will is done. It is a prayer that His will be adhered to on earth as obediently as it is adhered to in heaven. And what is His will for the nations on earth? To be divided. (Read Pt. 1) And what is His will for the church? To be united under His absolute Lordship wherever they dwell. But where the one is compromised to supposedly accomplish the other, there is Babylon; and of this our wicked and perverse generation is most assuredly guilty. They render unto Caesar what is God’s, and unto God what is Caesar’s.

By no means, therefore, can the the will of God being done on earth, in this age, imply anything that contradicts the spiritual chasm which the Lord God has set between the kingdoms of this world and His own kingdom since the fall of man. This is not a gnostic dichotomy, of which I have been accused by the simpletons; this is rather to point out the obvious boundary which God has set in lieu of man’s sin and Satan’s rebellion. There are realms of authority witheld from men, including from the church, until the new heavens and new earth appear. To overstep these bounds is not the zeal of the Lord, it is really the pride of the fallen one seducing us. It is not by human conquest that Christ subdues the nations, but rather by His final coming; and it is not by the cultural ingenuity or political zeal of religious men that the earthly kingdoms become the kingdom of our God and of His Christ:” but rather by the preserving of souls from out of this wicked generation; since in this age His reign takes place in their hearts, and theirs in His. Then the rest will finally be thrown into everlasting fire, and whoever remains are His body: those whom He has redeemed from out of all the nations, who overcame the draw of this present evil age by nothing except the blood of the Lamb and the word of their testimony; having become Israel His portion, which are Jacob His allotted heritage. “And so all Israel will be saved.”

And when He had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of saints. And they sung a new song, saying, “Thou art worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: for Thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by Thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; and hast made us unto our God kings and priests: *and we shall reign on the earth.”
Revelation 5:8-10

It is because God has an elect from out of every kindred and tongue and people and nation that the scriptures will be fulfilled which say, “God in Christ was reconciling the world to Himself,” and, “I will draw all men unto Myself,” and, “God so loved the world… that every believing one might not perish…” (accurate Gk. for Jn 3:16 – and note the specificity). Election is the scriptures’ rebuke to every form of universalism. For the Book of Life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world has names excluded from it; though there will be names written in it from every corner of the earth. *[As for their “reign on the earth,” the saints here speak of it as a future event, in a passage which describes the culmination of His redemption in the present age. It therefore cannot speak of them reigining now.]

The Lord’s design for His own people from eternity is hanged upon the wisdom of His cross: wherein is both hidden and revealed the fulcrum of all justice, before which the wise are made foolish and the foolish are made wise. It would have been just and righteous for Him to have wiped out all of creation upon the commencement of the fall; yet He freely chose not to do so, being pleased to make the justification of the unjust a just reward for those who will have the sufferings of Christ at work in themselves by His mighty power. For in sin being made much of in ages beforehand, how much more now the glory of God in breaking sin’s hold! Who then is man to answer back to God, who finds fault with some, yet mercies others? The Almighty is under no obligation to show mercy; yet He has done so, while retaining for Himself all the rights to His grace. “What if God, desiring to show His wrath, and to make His power known, patiently endured the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, in order to make known the riches of His glory to vessels of mercy, which He has prepared beforehand for glory – we whom He has called, not of the Jews only but also of the nations?” (Rom 9:22-24) This reveals no capitulation or moral compromise in God, but rather reveals the infinite glory of Christ who bore the sins of many in His own body on the tree, showing forth the longsuffering and patience of God toward all who will trust in Him.

And those who have this mystery at work in them rise not unto earthly gain as though it is Godliness. For in this world we are rather exhorted:

Therefore let us go to Him outside the camp and bear the reproach He endured. For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. Through Him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge His Name.
Hebrews 13:13-15

Not by might or by power, but by the Spirit of Christ, He has begun, as our psalmist cried, to “judge the earth.” (Ps 82).

And this is the judgment: the Light has come into the world, and people loved the darkness rather than the Light because their works were evil.
John 3:19

“For what fellowship has light with darkness?” Do not let this warning pass you by. Consider the day when Israel made a covenant with the deceitful Gibeonites in exchange for earthly utility (Joshua 9). It was grievous enough that the leaders of Israel did not inquire of the Lord regarding the Gibeonites before swearing an oath of protection to them – but we today are far worse: for we, even when we do inquire of the Lord, and He tells us what they really are, we still make covenants with them from behind a facade of ignorance regarding their true nature. Until all of our Gibeonite oaths are renounced, and the son of the slave woman kicked out, God’s people will have no sustained power to do His will. Let not those who think to have crossed the Jordan be sure of themselves as did the children of Israel in the deception of the Gibeonites; for the Jordan crossing is only the first step in the taking of the promised land. These are the most elementary schemes of the devil; meanwhile, there are even more deep and more treacherous waters through which we have yet to wade before we find rest beyond Egypt, which is also Babylon.

Now the synagogue of Satan are the high priests of Babylon; and in response to their doctrine the apostle wrote:

Now Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia; she corresponds to the present Jerusalem, for she is in slavery with her children. But the Jerusalem above is free, and she is our mother.
For it is written, “Rejoice, O barren one who does not bear; break forth and cry aloud, you who are not in labor!
For the children of the desolate one will be more than those of the one who has a husband.” Now you, brothers, like Isaac, are children of promise. But just as at that time he who was born according to the flesh persecuted him who was born according to the Spirit, so also it is now.
But what does the Scripture say? “Cast out the slave woman and her son, for the son of the slave woman shall not inherit with the son of the free woman.”
So, brothers, we are not children of the slave but of the free woman.
Galatians 4:25-31

Ever have the false prophets slowly drawn men of God away from their rightful post (apostasy – to leave one’s post) by speaking things which even may come to pass, leading us to follow after their gods (Deut 13:1-3). And who are their gods? They are those principalities which the god of this age has used to infatuate the prophets with earthly glories! And for the sake of earthly gain they will even prophesy of the true prophets, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to you the way of salvation.” (Acts 16:16-18). By their smooth words they steal the flock of God away to the idolatry of earthly power, to the erection of the tower of the city in which all the nations fornicate. For in their own unity, the hearts of men find no need of the unity that is found only in Christ.

The whore is Babel, the city of man’s unity; but the church invisible is true Zion, the city of God’s unity. God divided the nations at Babel; He unites the nations in the redeemed souls of His heavenly kingdom. But when man seeks to do this for himself on earth, he rebuilds Babel every time; and every time, it falls. God will not be mocked.

Of Zion it is said over Babylon:

On the holy mount stands the city He founded; the LORD loves the gates of Zion more than all the dwelling places of Jacob.
Glorious things of you are spoken, O city of God.
Selah
Among those who know me I mention Rahab and Babylon; behold, Philistia and Tyre, with Cush – “This one was born there,” they say.
And of Zion it shall be said, “This one and that one were born in HER”; for the Most High Himself will establish HER.
The LORD records as He registers the peoples, “This one was born there.”

The Spirit Of The Void

Here are the words of one of Job’s three foolish friends. They are the words of a man led astray, thinking to counsel rightly; when truly he speaks according to a demonic message which he received:

“Now a word was brought to me stealthily; my ear received the whisper of it. Amid thoughts from visions of the night, when deep sleep falls on men, dread came upon me, and trembling, which made all my bones shake. A spirit glided past my face; the hair of my flesh stood up. It stood still, but I could not discern its appearance. A form was before my eyes; there was silence, then I heard a voice:
‘Can mortal man be in the right before God? Can a man be pure before his Maker? Even in His servants He puts no trust, and His angels He charges with error; how much more those who dwell in houses of clay, whose foundation is in the dust, who are crushed like the moth. Between morning and evening they are beaten to pieces; they perish forever without anyone regarding it. Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them, do they not die, and that without wisdom?’
Job 4:12-21 (ESV)

This is a chillingly familiar experience to many people in our own day. We live in a time dominated by this spirit – and it particularly targets the children of God. It works to crush all hope in the possibility that “a man can be in the right before God,” or “be pure before his Maker.” It works to undermine all trust in God on the part of His servants, by accusing the all-knowing God of evil suspicion, saying, “even in His servants He puts no trust…” And it even tries to excuse its own rebellion as the fault of the Most High: “His angels He charges with error…”

There sat Job: penniless, comfortless, and sickly; and here came the void to swallow him whole by utter despair. It is a spirit which causes men an empty dread, “…and trembling, which made all my bones shake.” Its appearance could not be discerned, just like the nothingness into which it drives men. And it blames God for the very meaningless existence that it is truly the purveyor of, saying, “Between morning and evening they (men) are beaten to pieces; they perish forever without anyone regarding it. Is not their tent-cord plucked up within them, do they not die, and that without wisdom?”

This is not the Spirit of the Living God: for He is not a spirit of such fear; “but of power, of love, and of a sound mind.”

But those who do not quickly shun and rebuke this spirit of despair in their own lives are left to gradually accept the slow descent into spiritual apathy and compromise; until they come to embrace it as the very wisdom of God, the gospel truth, and refuse to overcome its stranglehold upon them, returning to God nothing upon the investment He made in them. It is the strongman of vices beyond number: it is the invisible pressure which suffocates us from the breath of God, it is the filth of the world which smothers our hearts with callousness; and its only bane is HE WHO IS IN YOU.
